Temple Baptist School History Since 1976, Temple Baptist School has grown under the guidance of its founder, Dr. Joe Olachea. The school is an outgrowth of a vision, which began in the minds, and prayers of the Temple Baptist Church members who felt a great need existed for a Bible-believing, Christ-centered Christian school to serve the Asheville area. The Deacon Board, elected by members of Temple Baptist Church, serves as the school board. Under the leadership of Donald Austin, who became the first Administrator in 1979, the school added a grade each year until the first graduating class in 1986. The school now has all grade levels from four-year old kindergarten through the twelfth grade. The primary sources of Christian textbooks and instructional materials are A Beka Books and Bob Jones University press. The current school administrator is Bill Spence. Because Temple Baptist School is an inseparable ministry of Temple Baptist Church, it teaches doctrine from the Baptist viewpoint only. While students of other denominations are selectively permitted to attend, they may not propagate doctrine contrary to that of this church and school. The basic goal in Christian education is to provide the children of Christian families with an opportunity to be educated in a manner, which is consistent with the Scriptures and supports the home and the church. For this reason, we must have reasonable assurance that the parents and the child have this same desire. At the junior and senior high level, the spiritual condition of the prospective student is an important factor in determining his/her eligibility to enroll. |
